Nothing predestined us to visit Bulgaria, and yet with its mountainous landscapes, caves, unusual places, traditions and Bulgarians hospitality… Everything was there to make us feel (very) good! Through this travel guide, we will try to make you want to explore Bulgaria!
I don’t know about you, but as for us we love exploring old abandoned buildings. That’s why we really wanted, since our first day in Bulgaria, to explore Buzludzha: a building built on top of a mountain, with typical “hammer and sickle” architecture, completely abandoned since… thirty years. When we say “abandoned”, it’s not quite true: scavengers, squatters and exploratoration amateurs visit it one after the other… Interested in this communist UFO? We will tell you everything to know about this crazy exploration!
What to see, on the Bulgarian Black Sea shores? That is the question! Always helped by the locals and their good advice, we went to explore the whole Bulgarian Black Sea coast. Ancient cities, incredible beaches, mud and salt water baths… We tell you everything you need to know to enjoy the Bulgarian Black Sea coast and make your stay in Bulgaria a success!
Bansko, this name didn’t mean anything to us before we drop our bags off in this Bulgarian ski resort, as we were lucky enough to find a host to welcome us for 5 nights! As you know, when it comes to visiting a country or a region, we completely rely on the advice of the locals. And thanks to them, we were able to plan some activities to do around Bansko!
καλημέρα – Kalimera, Hello! After more than 2 months spent in Greece, it was time for us to share our experience and give our advices to visit this beautiful country, totally immersed in the Greek culture. Did you know for example that Greeks celebrate their patron saint rather than their birthday, and that their favorite drink (besides ouzo and raki!) is cold coffee? We’ll let you discover all this!
Before starting our journey, we did not think of visiting a country such as Albania, because nothing incited us to go there… And it would have been a big mistake not to visit this country! Because Albania, a country whose borders remained closed until the beginning of the 90s, still holds many treasures for adventurers in search of nature, beaches, change of scenery and cultural immersion!
Imagine an azure blue water, a white sandy coast, snorkeling, flat rocks as a diving board, a secret thermal spring… No, you are not dreaming: we are not in the Caribbean but in Europe, in Halkidiki in Greece to be precise! Follow us, we will guide you right to the paradise!
Among the prejudices we have heard about Bosnia and Herzegovina, there is a particularly tenacious one: Bosnians would be rough, closed people, living in a country always in the grip of conflicts… Obviously, this is totally FALSE! You only have to visit Bosnia and Herzegovina to realize that this country, now at peace, offers an incredible diversity: nature, culture, history… Everything can be found there, and we loved it!
Everybody knows Croatia, thanks to famous pictures of Croatian national parks and Dubrovnik, this fortified coastal city that was used as a set for (several) movies and series… However, Croatia is not only about that! In addition to great national parks, Croatia has nearly a thousand islands and islets but also historical cities such as Osijek or Slunj… Do you want us to make you discover?
During our stay as babysitters volunteers within a Greek family living in Zitsa, a small village in the northwest of Greece, we took advantage of two days of rest to hit the roads of Zagori, this incredibly mountainous and still authentic region. Far away from the classic ultra-touristic trails, we tell you here about our 100% nature excursion, during a 100% unique weekend!
As a necessary part of our journey in Bosnia-Herzegovina, we fell in love with Sarajevo, the capital of the country – a city of incredible cultural and religious diversity, with an undeniable historical richness! We offer you to have look back on our exploration of the capital, rich in discoveries and small details!
